Deputy President William Ruto now says he is ready to support any Jubilee presidential candidate who will clinch the party presidential ticket through a free and fair nomination.
Speaking after hosting leaders from Bomet and Vihiga counties on Thursday at his rural home in Sugoi, DP Ruto said he will compete with any interested candidate for the top seat in the Jubilee party primaries saying those who will be defeated should accept and support the winner.
“I am ready if the Jubilee party will decide that any other person apart from me should carry the presidential flag through a democratic way. I am ready to support him/her and I expect them to do so if I win. That is a democracy,” said the DP.
“When you are defeated, go home and wait for another election. We must be able to accept the outcome of any elections if we are democrats. That is how we are going to have a progressive democratic nation,” he added.
Ruto also scoffed at unnamed politicians whom he said were only waiting to be endorsed for the top seat insisting that the Jubilee party will not give anybody a direct ticket.
The DP has been hosting delegations from various regions at his rural home in Sugoi on the outskirts of Eldoret town in what political pundits say is in readiness for his 2022 presidential bid.
