Speaking during a conference organized by the Institute of Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in Mombasa on Wednesday, the Wiper Party governor said he can easily take up the idea of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

“I wouldn’t mind contesting for the top seat (presidency) if 75 percent of you (accountants) agree to support me,” Kibwana said.

Two months ago, a section of twitter and social media users launched a campaign to have Kibwana contest for the presidency in 2022.

The netizens argue that Kibwana is a performer owing to his development oriented leadership as Makueni governor.

The social media users argue that the Makueni county boss is fit to succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.

Kibwana has several times been voted among the best performing governors in terms of development.

The Makueni governor’s relationship with Kalonzo Musyoka and Wiper has, however, been questioned in the recent days.

A month ago, Kibwana questioned Kalonzo’s "mtu wa mkono" (errand boy) remark.

According to Kibwana, Kalonzo demeaned himself and the Kamba community by begging to be President Kenyatta’s errand boy.
