Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s move to endorse Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2022 presidential bid is a blow to his Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua.

This is according to political analyst Peter Ngure.

Mutua has equally expressed an interest in the presidential seat in the next general election.

Ngure observes that Mutua is slowly being isolated by other Kamba politicians ahead of the polls.

Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, the Kiambu based analyst said all top Kamba leaders are rooting for Kalonzo’s presidency in 2022 leaving Mutua in isolation.

“Governor Mutua is slowly being isolated politically, he will have it rough marketing his 2022's presidential bid in Ukambani since most of the leaders are siding with Kalonzo,” Ngure said.

The analysts said Sonko’s move to endorse Kalonzo makes the ex-Vice President the Ukambani's preferred presidential candidate in 2022.

Ngure noted that Mutua might be forced to endorse the Wiper leader's bid in 2022.

A section of top Kamba politicians, professionals, and the clergy have so far endorsed Kalonzo’s bid.

Pressure has been mounting on Mutua to shelve his bid in support of Kalonzo.

Most Kamba politicians argue that Kalonzo stands better chance to win in 2022 than Mutua.

Mutua has, however, maintained that he will not shelve his bid for anyone.

The Machakos governor says he is in the 2022 presidential race to stay.

Mutua says he has what it takes to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
