The DP's main target has been the Coast region, the perceived stronghold of the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

But the ambitious Ruto is keen to turn tables on the former Premier, whose party is keen to contain the growing rebellion from the region.

Amid the increasing number of 'rebels' from his Coast turf, Raila has done little to contain the growing dissent that has seen his former die-hard foot soldiers like Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori openly declare their support for the DP- the move that has rattled Orange House with the party keen to discipline the duo.

Since the March handshake between Raila and Uhuru, which the DP has taken advantage of to bankroll his political maneuvers, the DP has toured the region more than eight times.

But Raila has been a rare visitor in the region that has loyally supported him since 2007.

Is the ODM leader very complacent in his new approach to politics? Will Ruto shock him this time round? Whatever happens, Raila will have to up his game in the battle for Coast. If not, time of reckoning is coming.
