Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai has said Deputy President William Ruto will ascend to power in the upcoming 2022 General Election despite alleged calculated moves to block him out of the race.
Mbai says Ruto's candidature is unstoppable and that those wishing him out of the race will be ashamed.
In a phone interview on Saturday, Mbai said DP Ruto is the only politician fit to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is serving his final term in office.
The MP also blasted Central Organisation of Trade Union (Cotu) Secretary General Francis Atwoli over his remark that Ruto's name will not be on the presidential ballot in 2022.
"Atwoli is not God to claim that Ruto will not be on the presidential ballot in 2022 and it is shameful that a leader of his calibre is speaking nonsense," Mbai said.
The Jubilee legislator noted that Ruto will overcome the obstacles allegedly being put on his path to 2022 presidency.
He indicated that the DP is the only sober leader, adding that his popularity, generosity, development track record and heart for Kenya's unity will see him elected president in 2022 polls.
On Saturday, Atwoli slammed DP Ruto claiming that he will not be on the presidential ballot in 2022 election.
Atwoli who spoke at Mkunguni Square in Lamu county accused Ruto of allegedly disrespecting his elders.
