An elected MP allied to ODM party on Friday was forced to scamper for safety after mourners chased him from a funeral.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati arrived at the burial ceremony of the late Samwel Aondo, brother to Kisii County MP Janet Ong'era with goons who started causing mayhem at the funeral.
Angry mourners forced the MP to flee for his safety.
"It's very unfortunate that we don't even respect families mourning the dead. MP Arati should have respect to other Gusii leaders if he wants to become the Governor in 2022," noted Naomi Ombui.
Dominic Nyandieka accused MP Arati for hiring goons who comprised of boda boda riders to mess up with the funeral.
"Disrupting burials ceremonies won't add any vote to Mr. Arati. He was luck to escape from the funeral otherwise, we could have stoned him to death," Nyandieka threatened.
Justine Guto regretted attending the funeral only to be disrupted by Arati who doubles as the Gusii community spokesman.
"I traveled all the way from Nyamira to attend the funeral only to turn chaotic. I am condemning Arati for causing trouble at the burial. He must apologize to the community," Guto stated.
