Paul Maina, who was also known as Man Kwenjo, died on Saturday morning after suffering a disease which has not been established.

The talented entertainer came into the limelight after a video clip emerged online where he was recorded mixing popular Kikuyu gospel songs with his voice.

The comical footage went viral prompting Nakumatt Supermarket, which has since gone under, to contract him to entertain crowds during road shows it carried out in the past in various parts of the country.

The comedian became the face of the then giant shopping mall and in the process acquired his stage name 'DJ Nakumatt'.

His breakthrough on the internet also helped him get a call-up and featured on popular Churchill Live Show which airs on NTV every Sunday.

DJ Nakumatt was a resident of Githurai-Mwihoko, Ruiru sub-county in Kiambu County where friends and relatives are meeting to plan his funeral.

His fellow comedians and fans have taken to social media to mourn his sudden demise.

Kameme FM's Muthee Kiengei  Wa Watoria had this to say: "This world is not ours. We went through hell while hawking comedy VCDs in Nairobi. You proved that you can walk and work hard to earn a living but now you are no more. Your gunia suit always cracked me down whenever we met and your words were 'Wee brasa njikia kindu niwonire utheri (Hi brother, you've become successful give me some chums). Rest in peace DJ Nakumatt Man Kwenjo," Kiengei posted on his Facebook on Sunday.

"The self-made mix master Man Kwenjo aka DJ Nakumatt passed away yesterday morning after a short illness. #RIPNdugu," tweeted Inooro FM's presenter Jeff Kuria.
