Through a tweet, Wiper celebrated the fall of ODM in the Ugenya and Embakasi South by-election.

“It was unfortunate for our NASA coalition partner @TheODMparty to pridefully field a candidate against Wiper, this humiliating loss is the humble pie they must eat,” the party tweeted.

Wiper’s Julius Mawathe emerged victorious in the Embakasi South by-election after beating ODM’s Irshad Sumra. ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna had warned Wiper to prepare for a tough battle in the by-election.

Sifuna had said ODM would not pull out of the race to give Wiper’s candidate an easy victory.

However, it has emerged that NASA affiliate parties joined hands against ODM.

This was revealed by Ford Kenya’s congratulatory message to Wiper’s Mawathe.

“As Ford Kenya Party, we joined our Wiper brothers and other well-meaning parties to drum support for Julius Mawathe’s candidature in the spirit of NASA,” the party said.

According to the IEBC results, Mawathe garnered 21,628 votes while Irshad Sumra got 7,988.

Sumra conceded defeat before the final count and sent his congratulatory message to Mawathe.
