President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday pitched a tent in Mombasa where he launched a series of projects.
The head of State was given a warm reception by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho when he landed at the Coastal City.
Uhuru launched a vaccination campaign against cancer in the entire nation following deaths of prominent leaders.
During the event, the President said that the project will transform the lives of millions.
He also urged leaders to support his government in the fight against cancer.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta today launched a vaccination campaign aimed at protecting Kenyan women against cervical cancer. The vaccine against Human Papillomavirus (HPV) will be administered to girls aged 10 years across the country,” State House said in a tweet.
Joho lauded the president for the project and promised to continue supporting Jubilee projects.
“We are aware that Cancer of the Cervix which is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in Kenya and this vaccine will therefore boost the war on cancer. I thank H.E the President for choosing Mombasa County to host the launch,” Joho tweeted.
Before the now famous handshake, Joho and Uhuru were not in good.
