Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has congratulated a look-alike and namesake, Anne Mwangi Mvurya for emerging the winner as the University of Nairobi Student Association Chair.
The new student-elect chair has made history as the first female student to win the chairperson for the UoN Student Association.
Governor Waiguru, who most Kenyans are saying could be related to the new UoN student leader, congratulated her for making women proud.
She revealed the win for the female student shows how women are capable of making great leaders in this nation.
"Congratulations Anne Mwangi Mvurya for your historic win as the first woman leader of the UON Student Association. Confirms what we’ve always known; women CAN and WILL make great leaders. Make us proud!" tweeted Waiguru.
Mvurya was voted for by all UoN campuses across the country. She since thanked all students for having faith in her.
"I take this opportunity to congratulate all the victorious comrades line-ups from all the twelve UoN Campuses across the country. Indeed your tireless efforts to represent us has been a remarkable journey worth celebrating," she posted in part.
"To be honest, no one has lost elections, we learn as we soldier on. There is always another time. As we package ourselves for council elections, I look forward to working with all of you for the benefit of all students and to restore our pride as an institution. Once again congratulations to all our elected leaders," she added.
Others leaders including Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko have congratulated her.
However, even as she celebrates this milestone, a section of students at the university say that she was 'imposed' on them by the administration.
It is alleged that the students preferred another candidate who was locked out by the administration for lacking necessary documents.
