Don't wait until the last minute to pick out an outfit, you should instead do this as soon as you receive the invite.

Here are some tips on how to pick out an outfit for a formal event.

1. Pick an official outfit

If it is a formal event you should definitely wear an official outfit. This shows your dignity and maturity. Casual wear should be left for the weekend and outdoor events. Try to match the colour of your outfit from top to bottom.

2. Have someone help you choose the right attire

This is the best option especially if you know picking out outfits isn't your thing. Get a couple of friends to help you pick the right outfit. The mirror may not show you some parts but your friends will notice anything that might be off.

3. Give yourself enough time to choose the outfit

You may buy an outfit but fail to open it until the day of the event. In this case, you may fail to notice some mistakes such as the dress not being the right size,  leaving you with no time to get it fixed. Sometimes new clothes may make you uncomfortable as their materials are still rough and this may affect your calmness in the meeting.

4. Choose the right accessories

Your shoes, jewellery and handbag should enhance your look. However, don't put on too much makeup. Finger rings and bangles should also be moderated. You can put on just one or two at most. You'll look funny if you wear a suit and put on large and bright chains on your neck. Be simple but look classy.
