Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has asked Kenyans to give the court time to hear and determine the murder case facing Migori Governor Okoth Obado.
Mutua said it is not right for people to make judgments, yet the case against the embattled governor is yet to be concluded.
He said Obado and any other accused persons are deemed innocent until proven guilty by the court of law.
Mutua said while the deceased family and Kenyans are seeking justice for the slain student, it is proper to give the court and the agencies involved space to complete the process.
“The law is clear on the presumption of innocence until proven guilty and Kenyans should not rush to make condemnations and judgments,” Mutua said.
He addressed the press outside the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The Machakos county boss called for speedy trial of Obado's case for the truth to come out.
Governor Obado has been charged with Sharon Otieno’s murder.
He pleaded not guilty to the murder charge on Monday and has been remanded at the Industrial Area Prison pending his fresh bail application on October 8, 2018.
Obado’s Personal Assistants Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero have also been charged with Sharon’s murder.
