Deputy President William Ruto has been camping in Coast since Friday last week.
1. He officially opened and handed-over the newly built Mkwakwani Primary School in Msambweni Constituency.
He was hosted by MP Suleiman Dori who applauded Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) for heeding his request for construction and equipping the school so as to enable conducive learning environment.
The school was built to allow the expansion of Ukunda Airstrip and enable smooth operations also as reallocation of the existing school which lies next to the airstrip.
2. The DP also commissioned the street lighting which will benefit Mkwakwani residents and it's environs as well he issued 6,013 title deeds to the residents of Mwabungo Settlement Scheme.
3. He opened the Kisimani Community Borehole which will serve 1,500 households of Ziwa la Ng'ombe village, Mombasa County.
"It is a welcome relief, especially to women as it will ease the burden of trekking in search of clean drinking water and keep water-borne diseases at bay," he said.
4. Ruto launched the construction of Mwache.
Once complete, the Mwache Dam will ensure a steady supply of clean, safe drinking water to residents of Kwale and Mombasa counties.
The increased volume of water will alleviate the problem of water scarcity in the region, enhance food production and improve sanitation systems.
5. Ruto interacted with wananchi after launching infrastructure projects at Tiwi Girls Secondary School, Kombani, Kwale County.
"We are collaborating with county governments to lay the requisite infrastructure in all schools to enhance the quality of learning. The move will ensure all children study under the same conditions and have equal opportunity."
6. Accompanied by area MP Badi Twalib, Ruto opened Miritini Complex Mixed High School, in Jomvu, Mombasa County.The project was funded by NG-CDF under the leadership of Badi.
7. In Kisauni, Ruto issued title deeds to the residents of Majaoni settlement scheme.
8. The DP attended a Sunday service at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Kongowea, Mombasa County before commissioning street lighting at Kongowea market and Kazandani village, Nyali and later in Miritini, Changamwe, Mombasa County.
"We are targeting 10,000 households in phase 2/3 of electricity connection to homes, businesses and installing street lights in Mombasa County at a cost of Sh150m. The beneficiaries will use electricity for domestic and commercial purposes. Street lighting will propel industry and drive a 24-hour economy."
9. At Shomani, Kilifi County in September 28, Ruto asked the elderly to register for the Inua Jamii cash transfer programme which cushions the elderly and allows them lead decent lives in old age.
He announced 35,000 people aged 70 years and above will benefit from Sh850m social protection funds in Kilifi, that will insulate them against economic shocks and cater for their needs.
"All vulnerable persons will receive medical cover under the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF)."
10. The DP launched the construction of the 220m-long Baricho Bridge and 12km approach roads that will link Malindi and Magarini constituencies at Lango Baya, Kilifi County.
"It will spur economic activity in the area, ease transportation of goods, people and services and improve access to markets, schools and hospitals."
The Sh2.3bn Government-funded project is part of the national infrastructure programme.
