Addressing his supporters at the Burma Market in Nairobi on Monday, the former prime minister told Kenyans to prepare for a major battle that will divide the political arena into two.

However, in an interview on Citizen TV's News Night show on Tuesday night, Junet said that the remarks should not be taken as a political declaration, at a time when the leader has been calling upon politicians to shun early politicking.

Junet argued that Raila simply meant that a vigorous campaign to return the nation on the right path is on its way, adding that the opposition chief should not be seen as engaging in double standards.

"The ODM leader has been talking about putting back the country on the right path and fighting corruption. This does not mean that he is declaring any ‘war’ with anyone but giving his opinion as a leader," said Junet.

However, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah who was also a panellist on the show, disagreed with Junet, arguing that Raila was trying to create a new agenda to cover up for his implication in the Sh400 million fake gold saga.

He argued that Raila is out to create a diversion in order to turn the attention of Kenyans from the scandal, which he has been implicated in.

"Raila Odinga was diverting attention from where it ought to go, away from the fake gold scandal and his alleged involvement," said the MP.
