According to the constituents, Sonko should focus on garbage collection and not cleaning.

“Sonko is a joker who has failed to deliver. Most of the Nairobi slums such as Kangemi, Kibera, Kawangware are full of uncollected garbage yet Sonko is busy making public relations launching cleaning exercise,” said David Owino.

Philip Kimani said Sonko should be prepared to hand over power in 2022 because he is a failure who will achieve nothing.

“The money Sonko’s administration is wasting launching cleaning exercises should be used to pay garbage collectors to collect garbage from deep in the slums. Sonko should accept he is a failure and peacefully hand over power in 2022,” he said.

Teresa Mugo, a trader at Nairobi’s Kangemi market said Sonko should access the bad situation at the market.

“There is poor drainage at Kangemi market. Uncollected garbage all over and bad smells which have kept away customers. We don’t need cleaning exercised but we want garbage to be collected across the county,” she noted.

During the launch on Saturday at Kayole area, Nairobi Sonko said the cleaning exercise will be done on every first Saturday of every month to restore Nairobi's lost glory.
