Kibet is currently at Kenyatta National Hospital under the police watch, where he is receiving medical attention after he was shot and injured on his shoulder when tried to access the State House on Monday evening.

It is alleged he was jumping over the State House’s Gate B fence, and when security in-charge tried to stop him he become aggressive which led for his shooting.

More so, a quick scan on Brian Kibet Bera Facebook timeline reveals that the JKUAT Engineering student had declared a war against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In most of his Facebook threats, Kibeti was complaining of certain community who had taken their land, and have been oppressing him and his people for years.

In one of the post which might make one think Kibet was a Sabaot Land Defence Force sympathizer, is when he asked President Uhuru to give him and his people caves in Mt. Elgon, where he said his ancestors lived.

"I wrote a letter to President Kenyatta in January 2019 to allow me and my soldiers (poor, oppressed homeless people) to live in caves in Mt Elgon National Park. Land where my ancestors lived. He has not replied to me," read Kibeti post in part. He made the post on June 9 2019. However, his Facebook account has been deactivated for security concerns.

He goes further to ask the President to withdraw all those working in the said land.

"Kitosh(Lumeek (Luhyas, Luos, Kisiis, Kikuyus, British)) have occupied my land for too long. And they have oppressed me.Tell them to leave my land, all of them, with their doctors, teachers, soldiers, administrators. Leave my land," he added.

Apparently, Sabaot Land Defence Force was guerrilla militia that operated in the Mount Elgon. The militia was fighting and killing those who they said were not their people before their leader Wycliffe Matwakei was gunned down in May 2018.

After the killing of their leader, the group was overpowered by the Kenya Defense Force, which brought peace in the Mt Elgon region up to date.
