Embu County Governor Martin Wambora has been described as the governor with ‘nine’ lives of a cat.
Wambora was the first governor to be impeached by MCAs after the 2013 general election but was saved by the Senate.
The Embu county boss has spent many times in court battling election petitions some which threatened to end his political career at some point.
As Wambora serves his final term in office, it is not clear the political direction he will be taking after 2022.
The governor has also not hinted on who prefers as his 2022 successor.
Governor Wambora is among Mt Kenya politicians who will play a key role in the region's 2022 succession politics.
With his political experience, Wambora will in a way dictate on how Mt Kenya will vote especially on the presidential election in 2022.
He could also play a role in deciding on whether Mt Kenya region will honor its promise to support Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambition.
The Embu governor’s influence could also play part in Mt Kenya as the battle by some politicians to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as the region political kingpin plays out.
Wambora could also opt to retire from active politics after 10 years service to Embu county residents, but this is unlikely to be an option for him.
Only time will tell on the direction governor Wambora will be taking after his term ends in 2022.
