Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi is now a happy man after a section of the ruling Jubilee Party leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta endorsed him for President.

Speaking on Wednesday, Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe and former Mukurweini lawmaker Kabando Wa Kabando said that the party is ready to back Mudavadi's presidential bid for 2022.

The leaders were speaking during the Maragoli Cultural Festival at the Mbale Grounds in Vihiga County, in the presence of a host of other regional and national leaders.

Consequently, the former Deputy Prime Minister could face a few hurdles in his backyard even though he now seems closer to delivering the top seat to the region.

The nation should expect a collapse of the planned merger between ANC and the Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula-led Ford Kenya.

Wetangula is likely to begin drifting away out of political jealousy, considering that he is also considered one of the most influential leaders in the nation, but will have to work under Mudavadi who seems to have overshadowed him.

Also to be expected is a decline in Deputy President William Ruto's visits to the region.

This is because most of the leaders who have been accompanying him are likely to reunite under Mudavadi, hoping that he gets the numbers to succeed in his bid.

Judging by Murathe's remarks that Jubilee will be watching the unity progress of the region before considering handing out its support, the group will come back to its senses and rally behind one of their own against the outsider.

And most probably the mobilizers who have been pulling the crowds to his functions, their absence will result to fewer people, giving him no reason to come, at least until the campaign period.

The same will also see the fall of some regional politicians who have been spreading Ruto's gospel in the region, as they will have no one to tell it to going forward.

The entire electorate is likely to drift to Mudavadi, rendering anyone selling another presidential candidate in the region irrelevant and unwanted.

The likes of former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale will be the biggest victim of the same and could be seen disowning Ruto and heading back home with time.

However, only time will tell of Mudavadi will get the backing.
