Naivasha MP Jane Kihara is among the county’s veteran female politicians.
The MP is not a stranger to the country’s political scenes and her name was dragged into the 2007/2008 post-poll skirmishes that rocked the country.
Kihara was elbowed out of politics in 2007 but made a big comeback in 2017 after 10 years in political cold.
The vocal and fiery MP is known for her tough stands on national issues and has never been afraid of speaking her mind.
The MP joined active politics in 2003 and succeeded her late husband Paul Kihara as the Naivasha MP.
She was appointed as the Environment assistant minister by former retired President Mwai Kibaki in 2003.
In 2007, Kihara’s political career tumbled when she was allegedly linked to the deadly post-election violence that rocked the county.
She vehemently denied any role in the post poll chaos.
In 2013, she unsuccessfully contested for the Nakuru Senate seat before making a comeback as MP in the 2017 general election.
Apart from politics, Kihara is a well-established business lady with interest in the hospitality industry, transport, and real estate.
The veteran MP says that her agenda is to deliver services to Naivasha residents.
Political pundits argue that the veteran MP is among top politicians who will shape Nakuru’s 2022 succession politics.
There are speculations that the MP could bid for the Nakuru senate or governor seat in 2022.
