Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna may reap big fruits of his loyalty to opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Sifuna, a lawyer who came into the limelight in the run up to the August 8 general election was no where in the political circles until he showed interest in politics and vied for the Nairobi County Senatorial seat against Jubilee's Johnson Sakaja.
He played an instrumental role in campaigning for Raila especially in Western region, his home base. Sifuna comes from Bungoma.
But why did Raila pick interest in him?
There is a likelihood that Raila is grooming somebody who he may use to check Ford Kenya leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
Wetangula is a canning politician who may decide to change his political path anytime and all indicators show that he may actually work with Deputy President William Ruto in 2022. He is currently not in good books with Raila following his ouster from the Senate as Senate Minority Leader.
Sifuna's appointment as ODM secretary general was therefore meant to spring-up his (Sifuna) name and raise his political profile to the level that he can sufficiently 'fight' Wetangula's influence in Bungoma and Western region just in case he ditches Raila.
Sifuna is eloquent and has the capacity to mobilize grass-root support for Raila.
