With President Uhuru Kenyatta on his way out and his deputy William Ruto having declared his interest to take over, the 2022 presidential race result is almost predetermined.
But standing on Ruto's way is opposition leader Raila Odinga who though still silent on his plans, is considered a possible contestant in the very same contest.
And obviously, Raila will be attempting to crush Ruto who seems to already be having one foot in the statehouse and here are some of the techniques he might use to achieve the same.
The former Prime Minister can do this by first, using his famed political trickery and destroy the Jubilee Party as he did to KANU after joining the independence party in 2002.
With the party scattered and its members and organs are thrown all over, he will be rendered the DP disorganized and confused.
Consequently, Ruto will have to spend a lot of time reorganizing himself and putting together a new political vehicle.
This will leave him with close to no time to concentrate on his candidature, leading to a terrible loss, while Raila who will have organized himself proceeds to win the seat.
The other technique would be to remain close to President Uhuru Kenyatta, push him deeper into the referendum debate and strangle the Big 4 Agenda.
With the president fully into the referendum issue, he will have veered off his development agenda, which will come back to haunt the DP upon the open of the campaign window.
Ruto will not have anything to brag for his 10 years stay at the helm of the government, and will easily be shoved aside while Raila uses the very same to call for the overhaul of the Jubilee leadership.
He can then easily say that Jubilee underperformed and should be uprooted and sent to burn.
The final and most obvious one is staying close to Uhuru and convincing him to ditch Ruto and support him instead.
With the two on one side, It will be very hard for the DP to beat the union.
