Former Bomet Governor and Chama cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader Isaac Ruto has revealed that he is engaged in ongoing talks with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, fueling speculation that an alliance could be in the offing.
"As of now, William Ruto is doing his politics, I am doing mine, Gideon Moi is doing his. The only issue is that we talk quite a bit with Gideon Moi... We are talking," the former governor said.
He spoke amid concerns that the Rift Valley vote may be split in 2022, concerns fueled by the perception that Deputy President William Ruto, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and himself are all going to run.
He said that his party had no problem with Ruto, who has expressed interest in running for the presidency in 2022.
CCM was part of the National Super Alliance (NASA) but bailed out after veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga failed to capture the presidency in the hotly-contested 2017 presidential election.
