Kisumu residents have been having more than what they always ask for. Of late, the lakeside city has been seen hosting avalanche of events pausing the question, ‘Is Kisumu slowly turning into a home of events?'
Last Friday, thousands of fans thronged Jomo Kenyatta sports ground to have fun with Milele FM radio presenters who toured the city to bond with their fans from the lakeside region. Among the presenters who made fans thirsted for more entertainment included Alex Mwakideu, Felix Oduor alias Heavy J Baba or Jalas (Milele Breakfast crew) and Jacky Nyaminde popularly known as Wilbroda.
The Milele FM crew jetted in after the elapse of the Dala Sevens rugby tournament that also attracted several corporate companies including the NRG radio and the Silverstone airline.
Over the weekend, two big events happened. On Saturday night, a comedy show christened ‘Untold Look’ was officially launched at Kisumu hotel. The third edition comedy event spearheaded by Kisumu’s top comedian Corporal Simy attracted several acts including MC Onyulo from Churchill Show, MC Macole, MC Steel, MC 2Mbili both from Kisumu, Napoleon Ehmah and Allan both from Uganda. Many fans who attended the show lauded the event organizers and requested for more.
“The event was successful and on behalf of my team I would like to thank Kisumu residents and our fans that made it to the show,” said Corporal Simy.
Also on the very day at Acacia premier hotel, Riverwood Awards event powered by Kenya Films Classification Board and Kisumu County Government went down successfully. The red-carpet event attracted several guests from outside Lake Region borders and lakeside residents too.
The much-hyped event saw several contestants take home trophies in different categories. Kisumu made Luo movie Seredo 2 managed to scoop an award since it was the only Luo film and only production from western Kenya region nominated for Riverwood Awards 2018. Other awards such as Best Movie PR Firm went to Eminent Media Inc., Best Sound bagged by Supa Modo and Best Editing award to Mark Maina.
With more and more massive events coming to Kisumu city, the county will simply turn into a home of the events and that will mean something big for the residents and the county government wellbeing.
