Speaking to the press after visiting locals from his constituency who were recently involved in a road accident in Molo and are now admitted at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town, Mishra said setting up the unit will help ensure accident victims get quick and timely emergency services before being referred to nearby hospital for further treatment.

The Jubilee MP who is also the vice chairman of the National Assembly Health committee said he has already engaged the MTRH management who have agreed to provide manpower for the unit.

He proposed the unit to provide 24-hour emergency service with a fully equipped theatre and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds.

"The Accident and Emergency unit will have 6 ICU beds, 10 patients beds, one theatre, 2 ambulances and 24-hours critical care staff," said Dr Mishra, who is also a medical doctor.

"Once the unit is in place, it will help to offer immediate attention and lifesaving procedure to accidents victims before they are transferred to MTRH or other nearby hospitals," he added.
