Renowned lawyer and sociopolitical commentator Wahome Thuku visited the family of slain Moi University medicine student Ivy Wangeci Monday at their home in Othaya, Nyeri County.

While there he had dinner.

In a Facebook post accounting his experience, Wahome Thuku painted the portrait of a family still pained by the brutal fate that befell their own yet on a process of healing.

In a photo he shared on his timeline, Thuku is pictured with his bespectacled eyes trained on a beautiful portrait of a smiling Wangeci decked out in a sleeveless red dress.

It's as if she's alive in that portrait, her skin illuminating and eyes moving across the room.

The portrait was placed on the fireplace in the living room.

He revealed that Wangeci was buried about 20 metres from the living room.

In his post, Wahome called on the suspect to be held in custody until all university student witnesses testify.

Ivy was hacked to death allegedly by a jilted lover on a mission to exact revenge.

"Dinner at the home of my friend Patrick King'ori in Mahiga, Othaya Nyeri. Three living souls him, his mom and I. The 4th clearly present person in the room is the late Dr Ivy Wangeci, whose remains are interred quietly in the dark some 20 meters from this living room. But her now so conspicuous beautiful potrait in red dress placed on a fireplace with her eyes sharply focused across the room, following each of us and the conversation, reminds me just how evil human beings can be to each other. RIP Ivy you remain here with us.

"Was here to check on the family and they are doing well particularly the grandma. We hope justice will prevail. The murder suspect should be held in custody untill all the university student witnesses who are well known to him have testified. He may be released when other vulnerable witnesses are yet to testify. That is what justice dictates," Wahome Thuku's post read.
