The new Inspector General of Police (IG) Hillary Nzioki Mutyambai has vowed to work with other agencies in the fight against corruption.
Speaking to journalists at Supreme Court after being sworn in on Monday, the new IG said he will partner with his colleagues to ensure the war on graft and organized crime is successful.
Mutyambai stated that graft is an impediment to the realisation of development and service delivery to Kenyans.
"We are in this together and our teamwork will bear results as far as corruption is concerned," he said.
The new IG also said he is committed to spearheading reforms in the police force, adding that Kenyans should expect reformed officers who are committed to service delivery.
Mutyambai takes over from outgoing IG Joseph Boinnet.
The former Deputy Director of Counter-Terrorism at the National Intelligence Service (NIS) will be taking over at a time when the renewed fight against graft has gained momentum.
Investigations into graft scandals allegedly involving top government officials are being carried out by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained that no person implicated in corruption will be spared.
In his State of the Nation address last week, President Kenyatta stated that all government officials taken to court over graft will be relieved of their duties.
The Head of State also asked politicians to stop politicising the war against corruption, insisting that it does not target any individual or community.
