Susan Njoki, the 24-year-old ex-Multimedia University student who went missing on December 30 after she left Nairobi for Ruiru was killed by a 'very important person' (VIP) who was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV8), the family has been told.
The VIP, after running over the young girl, went to report the case at Juja police station.
However, Njoki’s family has been left devastated after police refused to reveal who the VIP is.
“A postmortem conducted on Njoki shows she died from a fractured skull, which was caused by an impact she had with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that knocked her on the highway that night,” Suleiman Ngige, a brother, said.
The ‘faceless’ motorist made a report at the station but the family says there are gaps in the whole case.
“What we have come to find out is that the motorist, who killed her, did not run away, but reported the incident to Juja Police Station. The police from Juja post collected her body and took it to City Mortuary at 3am on December 31. What shocks me is why did they register her as an “unknown” person at the morgue, yet Njoki had all the identification documents with her that night? To date, however, the law enforcement officers say they do not know where her purse disappeared to,” Ngige said.
Speaking to eDaily, Ngige said police at the station have been economical with information on the accident.
“Why are the police from Juja refusing to tell us who killed our sister despite having full knowledge of his name, the number plate of his car and other details, which can be used to identify him? An officer from the station told us that they know him, but cannot share that information with us. We’re desperately asking: Why? Why is he being protected this much? he said.
According to what the family has gathered, their daughter alighted in Ruiru at Gwa Kairo stage and talked to her friend where she was to spend the night.
Her friend, a lady, gave her direction to the house and when she tried to call her after taking too long the phone was off.
She tried locating her physically but in vain. Sources at the city mortuary said the body was taken to the facility on December 31 at 3am by police.
Njoki will be buried on Friday, January, 18, 2019 at her parents' home in Njoro.
