The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed that there has been an attack at 14 Riverside Drive, Westlands, Nairobi.
In a tweet, NPS noted that the area has been cordoned off and advised Nairobians to use alternative routes.
"Police wishes to confirm that there has been an attack incident along 14 Riverside Drive. The area has since been cordoned off and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to facilitate smooth operations of the police," NPS tweeted.
So far, the elite recce squad has arrived at the area and are part of the multi-agency security team coordinating the rescue mission.
The police are yet to clarify whether it is a terror attack, but from the happenings at the scene, it does not look like a robbery incident.

In a separate tweet, the police service has confirmed that speciliased units are at the scene engaging the attackers.
"The National Police specialised units are on site at 14 Riverside Drive to engage the attackers. Please utilise this channel for all official information and refrain from re-tweeting unconfirmed news," the police service tweeted.
