The two national leaders could not contain their joy at Harambee Stars' 'historic' triumph in front of a mammoth crowd of Kenyans who had turned up in their numbers to cheer the national football team on.

As the third goal went in, thanks to a well-taken Victor Wanyama penalty, they stood up and went into each other's arms.

This comes months after post-election tensions that rattled the country.

The gesture has fueled speculation about Ruto and Kalonzo working together ahead of the 2022 general election.

A Ruto-Kalonzo or Kalonzo-Ruto ticket would alter the political dynamics in the country.

Both have in the past said that they are open to working with anyone in their quest to ascend to the presidency.
