Kipchoge stadium in Uasin Gishu, Kamariny in Elgeiyo Marakwet and Kipchoge stadium in Nandi Counties which have been under construction will be completed in the next one year.
According to the Deputy President William Ruto the government has set aside funds through the Reliable Beneficial Fund that will ensure the three stadiums are completed.
"In the next year, all the three stadiums will be ready as we want our youths to have sufficient infrastructure to nurture their talents," he said.
Ruto was speaking during the AK/Lotto Lotto National Cross Country Championships cum Trials at Eldoret sports club on Saturday.
“The Fund will also ensure that the welfare of our sportsmen and women are taken care off and going forward they can get sponsorship through the Ministry of sports,” added the deputy president.
The DP lauded the sportsmen and women for their athleticism, zeal, and sacrifice to reach the pinnacle of the sport by being the country brand ambassadors and ensuring Kenya merits its place as a powerhouse in global athletics.
He called on the athletes to maintain a high standard of professionalism, integrity and shun doping, which is a stain not only on the individual but also the nation.
