The ThirdWay Alliance party has weighed in on the new unity government formation debate, questioning the planned move.
This comes amid reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta is considering creating an all-inclusive cabinet that will include ministers proposed by the opposition.
Speaking on Radio Jambo on Monday evening, the party Secretary General Frederick Okango acknowledged the President’s authority to make any changes in his cabinet whenever and however he deems fit.
He, however, cautioned that it could be aimed at appeasing the opposition and not upholding national unity as is thought.
‘’We acknowledge his Presidency and authority to make any changes in his cabinet,’’ he said.
‘’However, why wait until after his truce with the opposition leader to make them."
He further cautioned against the plan, noting that Kenyans will be forced to dig deeper into their pockets to finance it, due to the possible increase of cabinet ministers.
