Even as the curtains fall on 2018, some of the memorable phrases to remember include:

1. "Lamba lolo"

This is a sheng phrase that is reported to have originally been coined by a DJ as a memorable sound effect with different meanings and interpretations.

According to the slang dictionary available online, "Lamba Lolo", in a more polite term simply means “Mind your business.”

2."Bora uhai"

This is a Swahili slogan that was mostly used on social media as a quick response to something that challenged Kenyans.

3. Ifikie wazazi

The phrase started with the aim of exposing a group of high school kids who branded themselves as 'Instagram models' in Kenya while all they did was immoral acts.

The 'Ifikie wazazi' slogan called on parents to see the bad acts that their kids did while out of their sight.

4. "Pambana na hali yako"

This, in simple terms, means 'deal with your own problems alone'.

5. I’m not boarding

The phrases started and went viral when controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna refused to board a Dubai-bound plane when he was being deported back to Canada after Raila Odinga's mock swearing-in ceremony.
