Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has hit out at opposition chief Raila Odinga over his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Wetangula in a tweet on Wednesday said the politics of dynasties in Kenya is sprinting to an end and warned those in favour of continued dynastic leadership that a rude shocker could be waiting for them in 2022.
There have been claims, especially after Raila met Uhuru at the commander in chief's office at Harambee House on March 9 that one of the issues the two leaders spoke about was the possibility of Raila succeeding Uhuru in 2022.
The claims were firmed up by Raila's proposal to amend the Constitution later on. According to political analysts, Raila's proposal may be aimed at reviewing the presidential age limit to allow the former Langata MP contest for the presidency in 2022.
"Those perpetuating dynastic leadership think everybody owes them," Wetangula said.
"Things change! Nothing lasts forever. God is watching over all of us," he added.
Wetangula's statement may have been coined to mean how former President the late Jomo Kenyatta and former Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's families may be re-aligning themselves to rule Kenya for many more years ahead.
Raila has not yet indicated whether he will vie for the presidency in 2022.
