Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s recent move to embrace Deputy President William Ruto during his (Ruto) tour of Luo Nyanza has a deeper meaning.

Coming amid a mega snub by Luo Nyanza leaders except for Karachuonyo lawmaker Adipo Okuome, Obado’s presence during Ruto’s events is proof that he is in support of the DP’s moves.

This is with regards that Ruto spent his Sunday night in Homa Bay county where he received a similar cold treatment, with neither county Governor Cyprian Awiti nor his deputy Hamilton Orata showing up.

Obado’s reaction is most likely a continuation of his rebellious nature that openly played out before his arrest in line with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno in September.

The controversial county chief went against area leaders and the dominant Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) wish for former Cabinet Minister Ochillo Ayacko to fill the vacant senatorial seat.

Instead, he termed Ayacko's direct nomination 'dictatorial and undemocratic'.

Obado has apparently sworn to go against the remaining leaders in what seems like an attempt to stand out in the county and drive a portion of or the entire electorate into his yard.

This could as well have everything to do with his court case, where no ODM member came to his rescue throughout his 34 days in remand as the hearing proceeded.

This could, therefore, be his mode of revenge.

Finally, he seems to have found a new friend in Ruto, and being on his way out of office, is banking on Ruto’s presidency to prolong his political life.

He is, therefore, anticipating a cabinet or ambassadorial seat in Ruto’s government should he win in 2022.#hivisasaoriginal
