President Uhuru Kenyatta alongside opposition chief Raila Odinga will on Friday visit Nyanza region where they will meet Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli.
The three leaders will meet in Nyatike, the sub-county that hosts Migingo Island which has been at the centre of strained diplomatic relationships between Kenya and Uganda.
Nyatike plays host to the border that divides Kenya and Tanzania. The three leaders are expected to iron out some of the contentious border issues that brought frosty relationships between Kenya and Tanzania sometime back.
Besides, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have since independence had border rows.
This will be Uhuru's first visit to Nyanza since he was re-elected on October 26, 2017.
The visit, according to political analysts will cement the relationship between Uhuru and Magufuli. The Tanzanian President supported Raila in the last general elections.
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have since independence been at loggerheads over claims of some border areas, especially Migingo Island.
