The anxiety continues to grow for students at Moi University due to the fact that they will be resuming session as from January 7.

Traditionally, HELB loans are disbursed according to the opening dates of the schools. The loans are usually credited to the bank account at least two days to the opening date.

With Moi University students opening for next semester on Sunday, the loans may be disbursed anytime in the course of the week.

Going by the history of disbursement at the Kesses-based institution, the loans may be disbursed around Thursday.

The loans for government-sponsored students are usually disbursed in September for the first semester and January for the second semester.

With only one week to go, students are already flooding HELB's Twitter handle inquiring on the state of their loan's disbursement.

Most of the students at Moi university depend on HELB to pay tuition fee and also accommodation.

"I am eagerly waiting for HELB to disburse the loans. I hope they do so before we open so that I can use it to secure accommodation," Richard Kirui, a third-year student at Moi University said.

It would be remembered that early this year, a section of students demonstrated over delayed disbursement of HELB loans.
