With the passing and adoption of the 2010 constitution, county assemblies were tasked with the role of making laws aimed at governing their respective areas of jurisdiction.

To this effect, Garissa county assembly in the month of November 2018, passed three laws in a record time of one week. Here are some of the laws;

1. Garissa County Water Management Bill, 2018

This bill was passed on Thursday, November 15 2018. It provides for a legislative framework in the management of water across the various sub-counties. Other provisions of this bill include the establishment of water and sewerage services corporation to replace the defunct Garissa Water and Sewerage Company (GAWASCO). 

2. County Outdoor Advertising Bill, 2018

The bill was adopted on Wednesday November 14 2018. It provides for a legislative framework for all outdoor advertisement activities across the county. 

Among the pertinent issues that the bill seeks to address include the elimination of all related dangers posed to the members of public through the establishment of unregulated outdoor advertisement and maintaining the county ambiance in safe, clean and pleasant condition.

3. Garissa County Omnibus Stations and Parking Bill 2018.

This bill was approved and unanimously passed on Tuesday November 13 2018. It seeks to restore sanity in omnibus stations and parking facilities within the county by licensing all omnibus activities besides providing for the institutional frameworks to regulate omnibus stations.
