Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to focus on projects that will leave a good name for him once his term ends in 2022.
Muthama says that the president should not waste time on projects and things that will not help the normal mwananchi at the end of his term.
In an exclusive interview on Tuesday, Muthama urged Uhuru to focus on electoral reforms, unity and war on corruption as he serves his last term in office.
He said that electoral injustice is what is ailing the country’s development agenda.
Muthama argued that bad leaders are allowed into office because of electoral fraud caused by weak electoral laws and systems.
He also said that electoral fraud is to blame for wanton graft being exposed in Jubilee government.
“The president must push for electoral reforms and heal the country of past injustices,” Muthama said during the interview.
On unity, the former Senator urged the head of state to work with all leaders. He accused Uhuru of sidelining other leaders and only engaging ODM leader Raila Odinga.
“He (the president) has to work with all leaders without isolating any of them in order to leave a united country by the time he will be leaving office in 2022,” he added.
Concerning the ongoing graft purge, the vocal politician from Ukambani pleaded with the president to be firm and push for the arrest of all suspects implicated on mega scandals.
He said there should never be sacred cows in the renewed fight against graft.
