City lawyer Donald Kipkorir has accused Jubilee administration for allegedly abandon former Energy minister Davies Chirchir, who played a vital role in President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory both in 2013 and 2017.
The former commissioner with defunct IIEC was recruited by Jubilee party in 2013 to the Secretariat and coordinated most of the functions.
In 2015, Chirchir was among several ministers who were kicked out of the cabinet due to alleged corruption and was never to be reinstated again.
"Yesterday, I met Hon. Davis Chirchir, former Minister for Energy in chance encounter. Have known him for over 25 Years. There are few Kenyans who think on their feet like him .Yet, Jubilee System seems to have forgotten a man who single-handedly gave it victory in 2013 Elections," Kipkorir argued.
In 2017, President Uhuru Kenyatta also recalled him and tasked him to be Jubilee lead agent during polls. He was accused by NASA of hacking IEBC servers.
Last year, there were claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta was to appoint him as Secretary to the Cabinet. But until now, he's yet to be appointed.
“For somebody who once held the powerful post of the CS for Energy, the position of the Secretary to the Cabinet can be considered a considerable downgrade,” said the source as quoted by the Nation.
Mr Chirchir is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto. He was replaced at the energy ministry by compatriot Charles Keter.
