With the recent moral decay in our society, few would consider returning the cash.

On the hand, this could cost cashier's job after coming up short on cash.

A lecturer from the University of Kabianga has left many with their mouth agape after he confessed surrendering excess cash hours after he withdrew a hefty amount of cash at a local bank in Mombasa.

Upon arriving in Mombasa on Monday afternoon for an academic trip, Cyprian Ombati went to withdraw Sh150,000 meant for student's upkeep.

Ombati narrates that the bank cashier handed him Ksh 250,000 in excess of Ksh 100,000 in an envelope and left to his room.

He added that he immediately took a nap immediately arrived at his hotel room.

He was later woken up by a call from the bank enquiring if he had mistakenly received some excess cash.

Without hesitation, Ombati checked and indeed realised that he had an extra Sh100,000 and took it back to the bank.

Here is his tale;

"Today afternoon at Mombasa on an academic trip with 4th-year students Bsc Biochemistry of the University of Kabianga. I went to the bank to withdraw their money for use during the trip 150K.

"I was given the amount and the withdrawal slip in an envelope and off I went to my room. I placed the amount in the bag and slept. I received a call from the bank enquiring if they mistakenly gave me an extra 100K, I told them to let me check and indeed it was 250K, I told them I have it I can bring it.

"I took it back to the bank. They were surprised. TENDA MEMA NENDA ZAKO."
