Kitui South MP Rachel Kaki Nyamai has waded into the political war pitting Governor Charity Ngilu and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) over a supplementary budget.
Nyamai said there is a need for the truce to be reached out urgently to prevent residents from ‘suffering’.
Addressing the press in Mutumo on Monday, Nyamai said the impasse between Ngilu and MCAs in regards to the supplementary budget has gotten out of hand.
She said the residents are suffering, adding that the county's operations could completely halt.
“We need urgent intervention on this matter to enable Kitui residents to continue getting services,” Nyamai said.
She said political wars between Ngilu and the MCAs is a threat to service delivery.
The MP pleaded with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to mediate between Ngilu and the county legislators to ensure services are not interrupted in Kitui.
She said Kalonzo’s intervention could help ease the tension between the governor and the MCAs.
Kitui MCAs have vowed not to approve the supplementary budget until Ngilu explains how funds in the previous budgets were utilized.
Ngilu, on the other hand, is accusing the MCAs of politically frustrating her work.
On Sunday, Ngilu said she is ready to have the Kitui county dissolved and fresh elections conducted.
Last month, the Kitui county boss asked Kalonzo to intervene on the matter.
