Celebrated gospel musician Emmy Kosgei has attributed her success in music career to retired President Mwai Kibaki.
In an interview with the Nairobian, Ms. Kosgei narrates how she was mysteriously contacted to perform in State House after her debut in 2010.
At the garden party, President Kibaki, despite the tough security at main dais, allowed her to sell CDs to dignitaries.
"I was never that connected. I just got a call from State House in 2010. It was like a dream. Watching everyone dancing and screaming to my music was encouraging. Lucy Kibaki was dancing to my music," she said.
She added: "We were then invited to the State House garden party, where Kibaki encouraged me to sell my CDs at the dais. From that day, my career rose to a new level. I started getting phone calls from embassies and other state function. It’s been a blessed journey."
Despite her glittering career, most of her songs are in local Kalenjin dialect but are widely played by local media.
About her marriage to Nigerian Apostle Anselm Madubuko, she said she enjoys the marriage and that her step-children are mature and loving.
