Makueni nominated Member of County Assembly Mbula Mutula has vehemently opposed the move by the government to impose a mandatory tax on airtime.
On her Facebook page, Mbula went ahead to say that it's the common Mwananchi that will suffer due to the tax.
She said that the government officials holding high offices like Governors, Senators and the MPs should start paying taxes for the huge salaries they bag before it goes to this extent.
"Taxing airtime to pay projects, this is now serious. This will be the last stroke that breaks the camel's neck since the common mwananchi will be the one to suffer. I totally disagree with this crap," said Mbula.
She urged the government to think about the common Mwananchi that struggles to get food and pay rent before implementing and imposing some laws.
"Before the government enforces anything it should first consider the impact on the common mwananchi somewhere in the country who is struggling to make ends meet," she added.
On Tuesday it was reported that the government will impose a tax on airtime offered by employers to Kenyan workers as from August 1, 2018.
The move has brewed controversy with some of the leaders bitterly opposing the move.
