The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Council has been on the brim of the division following issues that the embattled senior counsel Prof Tom Ojienda has been facing to defend his position as the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Ojienda is seeking to retain his post as the male representative for the Law Society of Kenya at JSC.
There are factions trying to block Ojienda on grounds that he is not complying with all the requirements by law to vie.
However, his woes have received backing from the former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi who dismissed attempts to by LSK to bar Prof. Ojienda.
"I do not think it is right for people to stop Prof Tom Ojienda from running for a post because he has a tax issue though it is appropriate for him to sort out those tax issues. Everybody has tax issues," said Ahmednasir during the JKL show on Wednesday night.
Prof.Tom Ojienda was on Monday given a sigh of relief by the council after it cleared him to vie for the JSC male representative since he fully qualifies and was subsequently asked to clear with all the relevant authorities as required by the law on vying for the seat.
