In her ruling Lady Justice Jessie Lesiit granted Obado's bail application, releasing him on a Sh5 million cash bail with two sureties of a similar amount.

However, the county boss was not able to spend the night at home, after his lawyer noted that there was an issue with one of his sureties which could not be handled before close of business.

The Governor, therefore, spent the night at the Industrial Area Prison, after his lawyers resolved to deal with the issue early Thursday, reports the Citizen Digital.

Apart from the money required, Obado deposited two of his vehicles as sureties, these being a Toyota Prado and Toyota Land Cruiser V8.

Obado was arrested on September over alleged involvement in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

Sharon's lifeless body was retrieved from a thicket in Homabay county earlier the same month.

In her ruling, Justice Lesiit also ordered Obado to avoid any contact with the family of Sharon, to avoid any chances of intimidation and witness interference.

"He shall not go anywhere within 20Kms of Homabay County boundary on all sides of that county,” Justice Jessie Lessit warned, according to the Citizen Digital.

Obado was also directed to deposit all his travelling documents to the court.

Sharon was buried on Friday, October 19.
