Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has congratulated her ODM party leader following his new diplomatic job.
The former prime minister was appointed African Union (AU) High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa in October 20.
President Uhuru Kenyatta made the announcement during this year's Mashujaa Day fete at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, an announcement that was preceded by Namibian President Hage Geingob.
"I wish to take this auspicious moment to congratulate my party leader, Rt Hon. Raila Odinga for his new appointment as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa. We wish him the very best in his endeavours as he takes up his new role," said Jumwa following Kenyatta's announcement.
Odinga who is 73-years-old, will be visiting several African countries with heads of state and governments as he pushes the infrastructure agenda on behalf of the AU.
He becomes the first Kenyan to be appointed a high representative of the AU chairperson.
