Maangi said Kenyans are struggling with poverty in villages because of 'over representation'.

"The referendum should ease the lives of our people but, not hardening. It is high time Kenyans should team up to ensure the referendum sails through to reducing elective posts in government," he noted.

The Deputy Governor challenged the Gusii community and leaders to be at the forefront pushing for the referendum.

"Gusii region should not be left behind in the referendum. Those thinking the referendum is Raila's affair are day dreaming. The referendum is for Kenyans and not an individual," Maangi stated.

He reiterated that any politician who will be out to oppose the referendum will be lonely since no Kenyan is willing to oppose the referendum.

"Kenyans are willing to participate in the referendum. Those planning to oppose should take this opportunity to join the winning team," he added.

Maangi said there must be exclusivity in government and this can only be achieved through a referendum.
