She garnered a total of 5,703 votes after beating four of her competitors.

Misachi holds the record of being the most elected woman in the county, a fact that has earned her the brand name 'queen of Kisumu politics'.

The 69-year-old widowed mother of four first joined politics in 1983 when she was elected councilor for the defunct Kisumu Stadium Ward.

She served as a Ward Rep until 1992 when she lost her seat and went silent for 10 years.

In 2002, she recaptured the Councillor's seat, then went ahead to be re-elected in 2007, 2013 and 2017 in the renamed Shauri Moyo/Kaloleni Ward on an ODM party ticket.

In August 2004, she was elected Kisumu Mayor hence becoming the second woman to serve in that capacity, after Grace Onyango who served between 1965 and 1966.
