Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has proposed that any corrupt Kenyan should face life imprisonment.
Onyonka argued that individuals found guilty of stealing public funds should be sent to jail for life.
"Any individual especially those in power found guilty of misusing public money should be jailed for life to serve as an example because the country is losing more money through dubious dealings," he stated.
The vocal lawmaker insisted that elected leaders should also not be spared when it comes to fighting graft.
The Ford Kenya allied MP backed President Uhuru Kenyatta's stand on the war against corruption saying no one is above the law to continue stealing public money.
"I'm happy that President Uhuru Kenyatta has stepped up efforts to end graft. Let him not spare his close allies caught in corruption scandals. Kenya should be a country free from corruption," he stated.
Onyonka maintained that loss of public funds means there will be no development.
"Our people will continue being poor because taxes will hike purposely for the stolen money to be recovered," noted Onyonka.
