Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has castigated politicians who take their campaigns and politics to funerals.
On Saturday during the funeral mass for the late Jonathan Toroitich Moi at the Kabarak University in Nakuru county, Mudavadi said it is unacceptable for politicians to debate in funerals.
"I would like to urge my fellow politicians against politicking at funerals. You would find a politician does not know the deceased, his or her gender or their name but leads the pack in politicking when he or she is handed the microphone to speak," Mudavadi said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Mudavadi asked preachers to be strict and even restrict politicians from debating politics in funerals.
"Even when they are accorded the opportunity to speak at funerals, they say 'sorry' to the grieving family for just one minute and use the reminder of their time to insult other politicians," the ANC Party leader added.
Mudavadi asked politicians to stop the habit and always respect the families of the grieved and the deceased.
Top politicians led by Deputy President William Ruto attended the burial service for Jonathan Moi.
Jonathan was retired president Daniel Arap Moi's eldest son.
He was a safari rally driver in the 80's and 90's before he retired in 2000.
Jonathan succumbed to pancreatic cancer on Friday last week.
He was laid to rest at his Kabimoi home in Baringo county.
